How to Order your Stand Up Paddle Board:

For questions, just send an inquiry about stand up paddle surf boards email to me, Steve at: infinsurf@aol.com or call me in the mornings at the shop: 949-661-6699 I'm in the shaping room after lunch.

We now put an air vent in every eps/epoxy board that we make.  These boards are so much lighter because there is less plastic and more air inside them.  This air expands in heat and must be able to exit the board or the pressure pushes the glass away from the foam and causes a delamination.  The air vent we now install eliminates this problem.  If you already own an Infinity board with out an air vent, please bring it by the shop for an air vent, or call the shop and we will mail it to you.  Have your receipt number ready to verify your original purchase.

COLOR: It is possible to airbrush EPS if you just have to have flames, but the quality is not as good as on urethane, so we primarily do solid color in the lamination. The color is bright and does not fade. A clear board is fine, but a color on the bottom will help protect the board from turning brown in the sun over the years of use. We use only light colors: white, lt. blue, lime green, yellow, turquoise, orange, bright red.

One solid pigment color - bottom with a clear (white) deck and pin line: $120.

A resin marble abstract - bottom with a clear deck and pin line: $150.

A resin camouflage design - bottom with a clear deck and pin line: $175

A solid color - bottom with a second color on the deck and a pin line: $225.

DECK PAD: We are finding that 100% of our customers are getting the deck pads to avoid wax. In addition, the 1/8" thick foam padding protects you and the board from the awkward falls that occur when SU paddling.  in response to increased competition, we are now offering every hand shaped Infinity board with a deck pad for free.  sold separately they are $110.  They are 80" long and 23" wide.  For the nose rider model, most people order our Clear Grip traction for $75 more.

The deck pads are available for $110 in the shopping section of the website under Surf Accesories.

Solid color Deck pad (black, gray or blue):

Camouflage color deck pad (black & white, shown below or green-brown-black)

PACKING: $50; I use a 350 lb. rated cardboard box and wrap the board in cushion foam plus an additional layer of cardboard.

BOARD BAG: We have custom made, padded day bags available. 11' - $160, 12' - $180. For mail order customers only, we offer a board bag for 30% off because it offers the surrest way to send your new board undamaged. We wrap the board in 1/4" thick cushion foam, put it in the padded board bag and then put it into the heavy duty box. This bag continues to protect the board for years as you use it.

PADDLE: It costs from $25 to $60 to ship a paddle separately, so it is wise to order a paddle with your new board. I cut each paddle to match your height, glue on the T-grip and add our clear plastic edging.  We also sell the clear plastic paddle edging for $1.50/ft.  Most paddles require 3 ft. of edging.

Infinity ottertail paddles: $295 standard shaft or $320 for the extra strong heavy duty shaft, or $340 carbon fiber shaft.*****Basicly, the standard shaft is stronger than carbon fiber, but heavier and more flexible.  Carbon fiber shafts are stiffer and lighter but more brittle.

Quick Blade carbon fiber Paddles: $330.

Werner carbon fiber paddles:  $295, standard or $325, adjustable length.

SHIPPING: $200 to most locations mainland USA. If you have a business who can receive your box (prepaid), you can save $60 when shipped to a commercial, business address (not a home business). I belong to the Hawaiian Freight Assn. so I get a good rate to hawaii: $175. SOMETHING to consider; if you live out of Ca. you save about $125 in sales tax which pays for most of your shipping.

TIME: It takes 4 weeks to build the board (half the time of other shops) because I keep the blanks in stock and I don't mess around. Freight time in the mainland: 7 days, to Hawaii: 2 to 3 weeks by boat.

MORE ABOUT THE AIR VENT:

A brief history as it relates to Infinity:  Air vents have been used in prone paddleboards and sail boards for many years to prevent delamination from interior air expansion.  These boards are shaped from 1 lb. Density EPS foam.  In recent years, short surfboards have been shaped from 2.5lb density EPS foam with out the need for an air vent.  Therefore, the EPS/Epoxy suppliers thought that an air vent is not needed with 2.5 lb density foam and that is what they told us as we first started making long boards and SUP (stand up paddle) boards with 2.5 lb. Foam.  Things looked ok in the first few winter months after Clark Foam closed, but as hot summer months approached, we started seeing a problem with delamination when these big boards were left in the hot sun.  The problem, it turns out is made worse as the size of the board increases; smaller short boards have very few delamination problems while larger boards have a larger problem.  This is because there is more air inside a large board and as this air expands in hot sun, it pushes the glass away from the foam and causes a delamination.

It became obvious that we needed an air vent in all our EPS/Epoxy boards.  We immediately started to install a screw in – screw out air vent in every board.  This works just fine when the surfer remembers to screw it in or out at the proper time.  However, experience has shown that people just cannot remember to actuate their air vents.  We began looking for a suitable automatic valve or impermeable water filter style vent.  The valve style vents have a problem when sand gets into the mechanism and causes it to leak.

My engineer friend, Pete Casica found a professionally made water impermeable filter vent made by the Gortex company. This Gortex membrane is fused into their vent so no water can pass through it or around it, even though air molecules can pass through.  This vent was developed for the US Army to use in the computer boxes in their Humvies and tanks.  It will let air molecules pass in and out but water molecules cannot pass through.    Pete and myself designed a “carrier” that allows us to install this military specs vent into surfboards.  Pete did the engineering drawings and had the parts machined.  These Gortex vents and the Carrier are relatively expensive, but essential to preserving the life of an EPS/Epoxy board.  You will find that most surfboard makers will not absorb this cost.

Infinity Surfboards is proud to be the first to utilize this military quality air vent in surfboards.  We install these vents in all Infinity EPS/epoxy boards.  We will install the vent into any brand of board if you bring it into the shop for $50.  We also sell the vent to individuals for $30 who can install it themselves.  Pete has gone on to sell these vents to any other surfboard manufacturers who want it.  If you are a manufacturer, you can order production quantities from Pete at:   CASICA@EARTHLINK.NET.

If you own an EPS/epoxy SUP board and it does not have an air vent, you have your head buried in the sand if you think your board will not delaminate.  Get a vent installed.  If you have an early Infinity EPS/Epoxy board without a vent, please bring it into the shop for a free vent installation.
