Dear Steve , just bought a Surftech Rad a few weeks ago and competed on it at our 2006 Kaikoura Pro Am competion last week . I read your design article before buying the board and it surfs very much as described. Steve Montgomery (Monty), of Classic Longboards Noosa bet me $100 I coudn't put five over in the contest. If I failed I owed him ! For 3 years of this contest my nose riding has never troubled the time keeper but I had 3 weeks of practiceon my new 10ft. Rad. Not only did I nail the five over, I beat Monty (the unofficial king of noosa) and went into the next round. Go the infinity! Whahoo $100 bucks. In the next round I finished a credible 3rd behind last years winner Australian Jessy Jerome, 5 times UK champ Lee Ryan, and placed ahead of current NZ national champ Mich Fitzharris in 4 th. Im pretty stoked! I have to say the Rad is a proficient alrounder that also surfs very hot off the tail when the surf gets bigger . Congratulations on the design , it is literally a winner .
