INSTALL FOOT REST AND FRONT STRAPS

* Each step below includes many small details.  Observe each detail to facilitate easy assembly.  Refer to the diagram, next page and to assembly pictures at www.infinitysurf.com.          **The foot rest should have 12 holes drilled in it (6 on each side).  If not, drill two more holes on each side spaced 1” apart and aligned with the others.  The forward two holes are used with the 1 1/4” screws to hold the front of the foot rest down.

FIND FOOT REST POSITION

1.  Sit barefoot or with surf booties in the ski seat, feet in the foot well.  Bend your legs to a comfortable position.  Have a friend put the foot rest up against your feet.  Remove your feet and use a pencil to mark the position of the footrest in the bottom of the foot well.

2.  Mark the location of the four 1 ½” and two 11/4” foot rest screws you will use:  Use a pencil to mark on the ski next to the foot rest.  Mark the position of the two most rearward holes and the one most forward hole on each side of the foot rest.  (mark 6 holes total).  (For a very short person, you can use the center holes.  This allows you to move the foot rest closer to the seat.)

SCREW FOOT REST INTO POSITION

* First open the package of straps and screws; dump all the screws and hardware into the seat.

1.  Use one of the 1 ½” screws to place the 6 nut plates into the fin boxes. (Screw it into each plate then remove the screw after positioning the plate.  Put the plates in smooth side up, rough side down.)

2.  Align the three nut plates in each fin box with the three pencil marks next to each fin box.

3.  Set the fiberglass foot rest over the foot well so that the proper holes line up above the nut plates.  Use a paper clip to reach down through the holes to line the nut plates up perfectly.

See that all 6 plates line up with their foot rest holes.

4.  Insert two 1 ½” screws into the outside holes in a plastic load spreader. Set this to the side.

5.  Put an 11” buckle strap through the rear slot of a buckle so that the teeth face downward.  Fold the buckle strap over so the two ends are together.  When the strap and buckle are moved into position, the rounded side of the strap ends should face forward and out.  (see diagram)

6.  Line the buckle strap holes up with the rearward two holes in the foot rest (above nut plates).

7.  Lay the 20” foot strap at an angle across the foot well, over the buckle strap so that the middle set of holes are lined up with the holes in the buckle strap (and the first two holes of the foot rest).  The rounded end should face rearward and out.  (see diagram)  (You can adjust the foot strap shorter or longer by choosing a different set of holes.)

8.  Pick up the load spreader and maneuver the two 1 ½” screws through the three layers of strap and the fiberglass foot rest.  Use a screw driver to screw the forward screw into the nut plate first.  Screw the rearward screw into the rearward plate second. (you can see the rearward plate under the foot rest because it is near the edge).  Leave the screws loose until all 6 are screwed in, then tighten all at once.

9.  Bend the 20” foot strap into position over the holes on the other side and repeat steps 4 to 8.

10.  Insert two 1 1/4” screws into the two forward holes and screw them into the nut plates.  These screws hold the foot rest down when your foot pressure tries to lever it up.  (There should be 6 holes on each side.)

INSTALL THIGH STRAPS

1.  Fold a 68” thigh strap around a plastic load spreader 1 full time so that the three holes in the strap line up with the center hole in the plastic load spreader.  Insert a 1 1/4” #10 screw through all three layers of strap and the plastic load spreader so that the screw exits through the long strap.   See diagram (bottom left).

2.  Screw the thigh straps (long strap side down) tightly into one of the holes behind the seat.  Face the long end of the strap towards the front of the ski..  .

3.  Slide a plastic strap retainer onto each thigh strap so that the friction groves face up and the center bar faces down under the strap.  (this allows two straps to fit more easily)

4.  Feed the front end of each strap up through the forward slot in the buckle from the underside – then down through the rear slot past the teeth.  Repeat these steps 1 to 4 for both thigh straps.

5.  Sit on the ski, fit the thigh straps over your knees.  Pull the straps to a snug fit, then insert the loose ends into the plastic strap retainers.  (straps will fit double thickness)

FIN PLACEMENT

1.  If necessary, sand the sides of the fin base so that it will fit into the fin box easily, but very snuggly.

2.  To start, place the fin in the center of the box.  Moving the fin back adds control for a beginner, but reduces maneuverability.  Moving the fin forward will make the ski turn faster, but may add unwanted zigzagging.  The best turning spot for an experienced wave skier is all the way to the front of the box.

OTHER NOTES

1.  Paddle your ski in flat water before tackling the surf.  It is supposed to feel tippy at first.

2.  You can order from a choice of three different kayak surfing paddles at: www.infinitysurf.com.

3.  If you are going to share the ski with a friend, mark your foot rest position with an ink marker before you move it so you can find your spot quickly.  Loosen the screws 5 turns then bang them downward with the screwdriver to loosen the plates.  Jiggle the foot rest to move it forward or back then retighten the screws.

4.  Most advanced wave ski surfers use a seat belt to hold them firmly into the ski.  A Person will drown after a capsize if they fail to release their seat belt.  Therefore, we do not offer a seat belt with the skis.  You can get a very nice after market seat belt from the Infinity website.

5.  You can get replacement straps, screws, footrests, fins and seat belts from: Infinity, 949-661-6699.

6.  Do not use a paddle leash; they are unsafe.  Use a 7’ ankle surf leash attached to the back of the ski.
