I've ordered many new boards over the years and almost without exception, they are pretty much never done on time. You know what I mean, they say four weeks, but the board doesn't actually show up until eight weeks later.

Well... hats off to Infinity. I ordered a 4B shortboard (Infinity's big/old guy thruster) only 13 days ago and when I stopped by their shop on the way back from the U.S. Open down in Huntington Beach, to my shock and amazement, the board was done and ready to be picked up. Their original estimate was three weeks, but it only took 13 days! Even funnier yet, just a couple of minutes after I walked into the shop, checking out the stock boards in the racks, my cell phone rings and I hear this strange echo. As it turns out, one of the shop guys was calling me to let me know my board was ready. He really cracked up when I walked up to the counter still talking to him on my cell phone. Talk about amazing timing!!

What can I say, the guys at Infinity run a first class operation. Steve Boehne is one of the nicest guys in the surf industry and real pleasure to do business with.

Well, I picked up my 4B (7' x 21" x 3") on Friday and I've got about eight hours of water time over the last three days and I couldn't be more stoked. I knew the 4B would be a great board for larger surf, but what really surprised me was how well it paddled. At 51 years old, I have to carefully balance the performance versus paddling thing. The 4B just cuts through the water like a knife and paddled far better than my most optimistic expectations. It actually paddles better than the fish I've been riding the last four months or so and when you consider the fish is little longer, wider, and thicker than the 4B, that's impressive. I've only had the 4B for three days and I'm already way more comfortable on this board than I ever was on the fish. Late drops.... no problem, I'm going steeper and deeper with way more control. Bottom line, the 4B makes me look good and what more could I possibly ask for!
